045: one and done

the easiest way to get dressed
7

It’s hot out, and I’m fully leaning in. The hair’s undone, the basket bag’s packed, and I’ve got nothing on but a little white dress and a little bit of nerve. Jane Birkin is always the muse, and today’s look is straight from her playbook. I used to think a Jane Birkin summer meant gallivanting around Paris or tanning in the South of France, but it’s really just a state of mind.

Channeling Jane, no Hermès necessary.

The Outfit Breakdown

The Dress

Easy, breezy, throw on and go. I’m wearing the ‘Daphne’ dress from Doen, one of my favorites for hot days. The white version is mostly sold out, but there’s a sweet baby blue still available in a full size run. If you’ve got your heart set on white, I also love the Clarissa Dress by Free People, the Niona Dress by Siedres, the Joelle Dress by Ciao Lucia, and the Venetia Dress by For Love & Lemons (10% OFF with code: TOASTSM10). All equally darling.

The Ballet Flats

These Repetto flats have been on my feet all summer. I’m not sure why, but they’re the easiest swap when I want a break from sandals and still need something city-friendly. They go with everything and make even the most boring errands feel chic.

The Sunnies

I went with a round frame to lean into the 60s vibe, even though it’s surprisingly hard to find a photo of Jane in sunglasses. I’ve seen a few with a wayfarer shape, and of course the iconic oversized round frames in La Piscine. Mine are an older Vivienne Westwood style called the Zephyr, but I think these from Marni are super fun, and these from Loewe are very close in silhouette. A necessary detail for a cinematic summer.
