095: beach house
what to wear east of eden
When there’s nothing left to do, you’ve got to romanticize your life. Salt air, a light breeze, bare feet in the grass, no concept of time.
Everything is easy, but not lazy. Soft, but not sweet.
After a long day in the sun, all you really need is a sexy little slip dress, a heeled sandal, and hair still damp from the pool.

When the air cools off, an oversized cashmere shirt over a bikini and shorts is dressed enough. Add a little heel and you’re ready for oysters on the pier.
Lightweight separates for the important work of doing very little: moving from room to room with the sun, finding the best reading light, and falling asleep in it.
A good sun hat is less an accessory than a necessity. It should have a clean shape and enough presence to make practicality feel deliberate.

The morning after a good party requires very little proof of effort. Lace, dark sunglasses, and a slightly elevated shoe will do for coffee in town.
Flip flops by the pool, on for the patio, kicked off again in the yard.
The best summer dresses require almost nothing from you. Worn instinctively over a bikini at the beach, into town, or while standing around someone else’s kitchen drinking wine.
And as the long weekend blurs into memory and sweetens with time, so should your clothes. Let them wear in.
Stay toasted, xx.
